It seems there are early troubles in the Ferrari camp with technical director Pat Fry admitting he is "not happy" with where they are with the F2012.
Ferrari is one of nine teams using their new 2012 challenger at Jerez this week for the first of the three pre-season tests.
But while most of their rivals have spoken very encouragingly about their new chargers, Fry says Ferrari are not faring all that well.
The F2012 has yet to match the times set by its main rivals, finishing over a second behind Red Bull on Thursday and just under a second short of McLaren's best time.
''I am not happy with where we are at the moment," Fry admitted.
"There is a lot of room for us to improve. Reliability-wise it is good. Performance-wise I think we are okay.
"But we can play around with the performance and improve the car in some corners, and some particular parts of the corner.
"But I would not say I am happy yet until we get the whole thing working.''
And with just three pre-season tests instead of the usual four, Fry concedes time is of the essence.
"Certainly the three tests rather than four does compress things a little, and we have a lot of work to do.
"Everything is a lot more compressed, so there is a lot of pressure on everyone. You have to try and make decisions quickly.
"We have a one-week break coming up, but then it is two solid weeks (in Barcelona) and then you are packing the freight for Melbourne.
"So there is a lot of work for everyone to do. It is the same for every team up the pit lane.''
