Human rights groups have applauded Bernie Ecclestone's comments claiming the Bahrain GP is "not on."
Formula One faced a backlash after the FIA opted on Friday to reinstate the Bahrain GP despite the on-going political unrest.
However, not even a week later, it seems the decision is set to be reversed with Ecclestone stating that "of course, it's not on."
And although there has been no official confirmation from the FIA, Global campaigning organisation Avaaz has welcomed the F1 supremo's latest comment.
Alex Wilks, campaigns director for Avaaz, said: "We welcome the news from Bernie Ecclestone that the Bahrain Grand Prix is no longer on.
"This is a tremendous victory for the brave people of Bahrain and hundreds of thousands of Avaaz members, who together with leading names in Formula One have vehemently opposed it and have forced this much needed u-turn.
"Formula One should only consider a return once it has been independently confirmed that torture and arrests of innocent civilians has ended and all political prisoners are freed. Avaaz will continue to watch what the FIA does next around this race."
