Webber: Wake-up and push on Sunday

Mark Webber admits he was surprised and disappointed wiht his pace in qualifying after finishing in sixth place.

The Aussie had hoped to challenge team-mate Sebastian Vettel and the two McLarens for a front row grid slot but just didn't have the pace to match them.

Webber finished with a 1:31.156, which put him in sixth place, also behind both Ferraris, and 0.690s adrift of Vettel's pole position time.

"I'm very surprised to be sixth," said the 35-year-old.

"I did my best, but it wasn't quick enough and it was a bit of a surprise that I couldn't go with the pace there at the end.

"Seb obviously did a massive lap for pole so he got on the front row just, which was a great effort. I'm disappointed to be on the third row."

Webber, though, reckons he can produce a better result come Sunday's 53-lap Japanese GP, he just needs to get the most out of his RB7.

"The car was pretty good yesterday on the long run - and it was good on short runs too, up until the end there."

"Clearly I didn't get the most out of it today. I'll wake up and push tomorrow."
