Malaysian pole slot switched

Sebastian Vettel will start the Malaysian Grand Prix from the right-hand side after officials agreed to switch the pole position.

The Sepang pole slot is traditionally on the left-hand side but Autosport reports that FIA race director Charlie Whiting agreed to move it to the other side after drivers raised concern over the impact of Pirelli marbles on the track.

'A number of drivers felt that if there was a high level of marbles in Malaysia then they would most likely fall on the left hand side of the grid,' the report states.

Pole-sitter Vettel admitted after qualifying that "it is very important here to be on the clean side, especially as they changed sides".
